Nokia Sensor is a spontaneous, sociable application for spontaneous, sociable people. With Nokia Sensor you can create your own personal pages - called a folio - on your phone. Then you can check out the folios of other Sensor users nearby, exchange messages, and share files.
Connect on the spot
Nokia Sensor uses Bluetooth wireless technology, which means that it works within a circle of up to 10 meters around your phone.
When other Sensor phones come within this circle, your phone can sense them and you can see their folios and send them messages. As soon as you step out of each others circles, you are no longer able to communicate via Sensor.
Connect for free
Because phones running the Sensor application communicate directly without going through an operator network service, communication is free of charge.
However, if you send SMS or MMS messages to other Nokia Sensor users, regular operator fees apply.
Bluetooth technology settings
In order to communicate with others using Nokia Sensor, the Bluetooth technology settings (in your phone and in theirs) must be turned ON and set to shown to all.

Cowsweeper 1.0

Cowsweeper 1.0

Cowsweeper makes you relaxed with playing a real-time arcade game. more>>

Cowsweeper 1.0 makes you relaxed with playing a real-time arcade game. You are a cow. You used to lead a pretty OK life, eating grass, sleeping, maybe a growth hormone injection from time to time. You understood your purpose in life---getting fat so that somebody could eat you some day---and you were OK with that, in a queasy sort of way. But ever since being infected with Mad Cow disease, nobody's wanted to come near you. So they decided to put you to use in Cambodia, of all places, where 11 million landmines litter the countryside. Your new role: to `find' the mines.

In cowsweeper, you play the befuddled cow, trundling through a grid of Cambodian boxes. Being a cow, you have no interest at all in finding out where the mines are, but the field does have some good clumps of grass. You begin in the corner of the field, and step square by square (diagonals are OK), until you eat all of the grass in the field. Then you can take a nap.

However, it is a minefield, and cows, unlike cats, only have three lives. Your cow senses tell you how many of the eight squares around you are mined; this number is listed as the `threat' of the square you're on, at the top of the screen. After you step off of a square, the square's threat is listed on the square itself. That's the life of the cow. Now go get some grass.

Aqua Lines 1.0

Aqua Lines 1.0

In this game you will build straight lines of color balls. There are two play modes - Classic and Challenge more>>
In this game you will build straight lines of color balls. There are two play modes - Classic and Challenge

Tap a ball to select it and then tap a square where you want it to move. Remember that there must be a clear path for ball to move. If you tapped a square to which there is no path, you will receive No Way message. To get a line of balls destroyed, you have to build a line of a minimum four balls (in Clallenge mode) or five balls (in Classic mode). You can build horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines. The longer line you destroy, the more score you get. If you destroy lines in serie, you will receive a big more points for each next line!

Play Modes

Classic

This is the same to classical Lines game. Minimum balls in one line is five and next balls (their colors) are shown above the playfield. On each move, these next balls appear in the playfield, unless you you build and destroy a line. Destroying a line no only give you points but also reserves more space in the playfield, so this is part of strategy.
Classic play mode is not for hurry, but for thinking. Take each move carefully, and you will get a big score!

Challenge

Challenge mode has some innovations. They are: you can build shorter lines, next balls shown in the playfield, there is a timer, and there is a level system.
Challenge is a fast-played mode, therefore a completed line can have minimun four balls. You can, of course, build longer lines and get bigger score, just as in Classic mode.
You have a limited time to complete a level. To complete a level, you have to destroy 16 lines. Level progress is shown just above the playfield. When you complete a level, a Level Up message appears, and you get an extra time. The higher the level, the bigger point are given for each ball, so there is a sense to increase game level quickly.

OpenDMTP 1.1.3

OpenDMTP 1.1.3

OpenDMTP (Open Device Monitoring and Tracking Protocol) is a highly configurable and extensible protocol for communicating with mobile devices over high-latency/low-bandwidth networks. more>>
OpenDMTP (Open Device Monitoring and Tracking Protocol) is a highly configurable and extensible protocol for communicating with mobile devices over high-latency/low-bandwidth networks. The protocol is particularly geared towards the transmission of GPS base location information and includes a full-featured reference implementation showcasing its capabilities.
There are many mobile GPS tracking devices on the market today with their own closed proprietary protocols. Searching the web for open protocols revealed only a few available for transferring data (including GPS information) between devices. However these solutions are generally designed for non-mobile applications and/or lack some of the low-bandwidth, configurable, and extensible features that mobile applications require.
Having an open protocol designed specifically for mobile devices has many advantages:
Targeted Event Generation: Many devices on the market are designed simply to transmit copious amount of GPS data to a back-end server hoping that the server can make sense of the data that it is receiving. The problem with this approch is that it tends to result in higher data transmission costs for information which will never be used. A protocol used for mobile applications need to be able to provide the flexibility to generate only the events that are pertinent to the specific application.
Network Efficient: Mobile devices typically have limited network connectivity, and in some cases data communication can be quite expensive (e.g. satellite). Because of this the protocol needs to be efficient in its dialog between the client and server. The communication needs to be optimized such that the necessary information can be conveyed with a minimum number of bytes in the least amount of time.
Transport Media: Differrent mobile applications will have their own unique way of communicating data back to the server. Some may use GPRS, or socket based communication, others may use satellite communication, while still others may use other forms of wireless communication, such as BlueTooth. The design of the protocol should be able to encompass all such transport media types, regardless of the type of transport in use.
Bi-directional: Some devices can support two-way communication (ie. GPRS, or other socket based connections), while others may only support one-way communication (ie. some satellite communication systems). With this in mind, a protocol should be designed to support both duplex (two-way) and simplex (one-way) communication.
Flexible Data Encoding: Most types of transport media allow for the transmission of binary encoded data. However, there may be some forms of media for which an ASCII encoded data packet is much better suited. A protocol designed with this in mind should be able to support both types of data encoding.
Configurable Messages: Due to the broad range of data types used in mobile applications, the protocol should be flexible enough to define standard messages, yet still allow custom messages within the framework.
Extensible: Not every mobile application is the same. Some require special handling and may have various types of inputs and outputs. A protocol designed for mobile applications should insure that the framework can be easily extended to incapsulate the specific needs of the device.
Small Footprint: Mobile devices typically have limited resources on which to run client code (ie. memory, processor speed). An open protocol designed with this in mind should be optimized to allow efficient implementation and should easily support devices such as PDAs, mobile phones, GPS monitoring devices, and other OEM micro-devices.
Industry Compatibility: Having an open protocol insures better compatibility between different client devices and service providers.
Reference Implementation: Having a reference implementation that showcases the major features of the protocol provides an easy starting point on which developers can add their own features and platform specific implementation without having to worry about how data gets from the client to the server.
OpenDMTP was specifically designed to suit all these needs, especially "Targeted Event Generation" and "Network Efficiency". The typical data plan for GPRS communication, for instance, is usually 1Mb per month. OpenDMTP was designed to optimize packet encoding to allow the collection of GPS information packets once every 3 minutes, 24 hours a day, 30 days a month, and still stay under the 1Mb data plan limit.
While XML is very extensible, it fails the "Small Footprint" and "Network Efficiency" requirements. Thus, it was discounted as a viable protocol solution. Many mobile devices do not have the resources necessary to be able to provide full XML parsing functionality. And an XML packet may need to be several hundred bytes in length just to send a few bytes of actual data. This alone would make the solution cost prohibitive for high-cost transport media such as satellite.
OpenDMTP also includes a full-featured commercial quality reference implementation to jump-start development.

SDP Editor 1.0

SDP Editor 1.0

An application for updating SDP records on Series 60, specifically for making Bluetooth File Exchange on OS X usable with Series 60. Source code included. more>>
An application for updating SDP records on Series 60, specifically for making Bluetooth File Exchange on OS X usable with Series 60. Licensed under GPL.

OBEX File Transfer on Series 60, with Bluetooth File Exchange on OS X

This only conserns Series 60 2nd edition (and probably 1st edition, too), 3rd edition and Series 80 work as they should.

Overview

Ever since starting to use Series 60 phones with OS X, Ive been annoyed by the fact that Bluetooth File Exchange cant browse them. The only way of transferring files between them is by using OBEX push, that is, by sending individual files (which then on the phone end up in the inbox).

This is bearable, but sometimes youd want to send a bigger file straight to the memory card which doesnt even fit into the main memory of the phone.

I dont know about any OBEX FTP client for Series 60 either (is there any?), otherwise that would be a feasible workaround.

Initially, it seemed to me that Series 60 didnt work at all with Bluetooth File Exchange, since it only showed an empty folder. After quite some time, though, I figured out that it actually works, but not as one would hope. Uploading files works, and then the uploaded files are stored into the inbox. And in that case, the files which are in the inbox, uploaded using OBEX FTP earlier, are visible. But not files sent using OBEX push, and of course nothing outside of the inbox.

I had only tried using obexftp (which uses openobex) on Linux using USB earlier, and knew that that one works as I want to. Much later, when I tried using obexftp with Bluetooth, I found the same situation if one doesnt manually specify a specific RFCOMM channel. Using the wonderful tools in BlueZ (more specifically, sdptool), I could view a dump of all SDP (service discovery protocol) records on the phone, and suddenly everything made sense.

The phone advertises quite a few different services, among them a standard OBEX FTP service and OBEX PC Suite services. The RFCOMM channel one had to specify in order to make obexftp work was the PC Suite channel.

In other words, Series 60 advertises two services which speak the OBEX FTP protocol, one very crippled advertised with the ordinary OBEX FTP service UUID and one full-fledged service with a PC Suite-specific UUID.

One cant expect Bluetooth File Exchange to look for the non-standard PC Suite service UUID, and I dont know of any other OBEX FTP application for OS X. But theres still another (quite hackish) solution: make the phone advertise the PC Suite service using the OBEX service UUID.

Ideally, the hack would consist of a simple application on the phone, which investigates the local SDP database and makes the necessary modifications. Unfortunately, the SDP APIs on Symbian dont seem to provide any way of reading whats in the database, and the APIs for reading SDP records from other devices dont seem to be able to connect to the local SDP server. In other words, the investigation of the SDP database must be done on some other device.

Solution

Note, I take no responsibility whatsover for the effects of using these tools. They work for me, at least.

SdpBrowser

SdpBrowser is a tool for OS X, which more or less does the same as sdptool in BlueZ - its capable of listing all the SDP record data on a remote device. (Bluetooth Explorer in the Xcode Developer Tools does more or less the same, but only for the local SDP database.) This can be useful when developing Bluetooth applications for some other device than the local mac.

Since SdpBrowser is made specifically for this need, it also can try to parse out the necessary information from the SDP records.

SDP Editor

SDP Editor is a small tool for Series 60 for updating already existing SDP records on the phone. Enter a SDP record handle and a RFCOMM channel, and that record is updated to advertise the given channel.

The changes arent persistent, everything is back to normal after restarting the phone.

The APIs dont work too well if the given record handle doesnt already exist, on 6630 the SDP server crashes. Updating the wrong record makes some other service unusable. In all cases, restarting the phone should restore everything.

Usage

Using SdpBrowser, select Get PC Suite info in the Device menu, select the phone and click browse. If everything works as it should, it gives the SDP record handle of the OBEX FTP record and the RFCOMM channel of the PC Suite service.

Then start SDP Editor on the phone, choose Update channel in the menu, and enter the handle and RFCOMM channel given by SdpBrowser. Then, Bluetooth File Exchange should be able to browse the files on the phone.

The handle and channel shouldnt change as long as you dont install/remove any service on the phone, so in general youll only need to rerun the application on the phone with the last, working values.

If it doesnt give all the necessary information, you can try to read it manually from the raw SDP records. Select Browse in the Device menu, and select the phone. Look for a record with the text "OBEX File Transfer", and look for the number on the row starting with "0:" in this record (e.g. "0: 0x10006"). Thats the record handle (in hexadecimal). Also look for a record with the text "Nokia OBEX PC Suite Services". That record should have a row like "4: { { } }, { { }, { 0xc } }, { { } }". Here 0xc, that is 12, is the RFCOMM channel.

Further improvements

This already is quite an improvement to the original "functionalty" of the crippled OBEX FTP service. But e.g. the System-directory is hidden - if one would be able to directly transfer files there, the development process of Series 60 applications would get a big speedup. This directory is still accessible, if one is able to manually enter a directory to open. (Incidentally, obexftp does this.)

So, the final wish is a "Go to directory"-dialog for Bluetooth File Exchange, or obexftp working on OS X. (openobex can be compiled with USB support on OS X, but I havent gotten it to work... Perhaps Ill have to add support for OS X-bluetooth to it myself, sometime, if I have time and if noone else beats me to it.)
