This system extension allows you to send short text messages from applications supporting the "Send..." command, for example the built-in Contacts, Memos, Calendar, Tasks.
Compatibility
Tested on Treo 600 and Treo 650. Should work on Treo 700p as well
Theoretically, it can also send SMS on other devices if there is an SMS-handling application registered in the system.
Usage
Select "Send..." from the menu
Select "SMS"
The text is pasted into the message, now you can fill in the "To:" field and click Send
Limitations
It can only send Text, exactly like if you typed it yourself. The receiver will also get the data as text only. For Memos this is obviously not a problem. For Contacts, Calendar events, and Tasks you can use RNS: TreoVCardReceiver to automatically transfer the incoming data into the associated application.
The amount of text is limited by the medium, you cannot send more than a few hundreds of characters.
And of course no binary data (it would be hard to find the binary file to match the size limit anyway).
What about the built-in Messaging/MMS?
On the Treo 600 you can send this kind of data with the built-in MMS application (call "Send", pick "MMS") - but there is no option to select SMS instead of MMS. On Treo 650 it is called "Messaging" instead of MMS and it is even worse (all you get is: "The messaging application does not support this type of item.").

Class 0 SMS is an SMS that is sent directly to the recipients phone and will appear immediately on the screen, without requiring the recipient to go into the Inbox. Also, the SMS is not saved in the inbox, so there is no trace of it on the phone

FOX News UReport 1.0 is a distinguished and tractable Application for iPhone which allows you to report the news. You can easily take or select pictures of news happening around you and send them directly to FOX News Channel from your iPhone.

NOTICE: This application is designed to be run under Multitasker 0.99 or higher. Running it under an earlier version of Multitasker may have unexpected results, and it simply wont work if you just run it directly from the "programs" menu. See the README file for instructions.
This application allows you to send and recieve instant messages through infrared in Multitasker with another IR Messenger user. It is also enhanced for the Multitasker environment and allows background recieving and dispaly of messages similar to a desktop IM program.
In case I havent made this clear by now, this program also requires Multitasker 0.99 (or higher).

Blue Chatroom 1.2 is a handy application which enables you to chat with surrounding people via Bluetooth at public places. Have you ever needed to chat with strangers around you when you are shopping at a mall? It is now possible by Bluechat. To overcome limitations of short range of Bluetooth, Bluechat forms a network between Bluetooth nodes to route messages. Because of this routing protocol, even Bluetooth nodes that can not communicate directly are able to send and receive messages to each other. As a result, you will chat with not only people within the maximum range of Bluetooth but also with people that might be hundreds meters away.

It is your chance to have more BlueChat nodes around so that you can chat with more people far away from you. To simplify usage, on Bluechat there is one big chatroom that anyone can join. Since Bluechat is using Bluetooth sending a message has no cost.
