FlashSMS is an easy-to-use software to send flash SMS messages right from your windows mobile powered smartphone (WM5 or better required). Flash SMS messages are equal to normal SMS messages except that they appear directly on the mobile display without selecting the message after receiving it. Sometimes Flash SMS messages are displayed in a fancy way f.ex. automatically scrolling on the mobile screen or similar effects.
Target mobile phone numbers can be directly taken from the Pocket-Outlook addressbook.
The Software has been tested on a HTC TyTN smartphone. There is no guarantee for any functionality. The author takes no responsabilty for any damage or cost caused by the usage of this software.

This system extension allows you to send short text messages from applications supporting the "Send..." command, for example the built-in Contacts, Memos, Calendar, Tasks.
Compatibility
Tested on Treo 600 and Treo 650. Should work on Treo 700p as well
Theoretically, it can also send SMS on other devices if there is an SMS-handling application registered in the system.
Usage
Select "Send..." from the menu
Select "SMS"
The text is pasted into the message, now you can fill in the "To:" field and click Send
Limitations
It can only send Text, exactly like if you typed it yourself. The receiver will also get the data as text only. For Memos this is obviously not a problem. For Contacts, Calendar events, and Tasks you can use RNS: TreoVCardReceiver to automatically transfer the incoming data into the associated application.
The amount of text is limited by the medium, you cannot send more than a few hundreds of characters.
And of course no binary data (it would be hard to find the binary file to match the size limit anyway).
What about the built-in Messaging/MMS?
On the Treo 600 you can send this kind of data with the built-in MMS application (call "Send", pick "MMS") - but there is no option to select SMS instead of MMS. On Treo 650 it is called "Messaging" instead of MMS and it is even worse (all you get is: "The messaging application does not support this type of item.").

Class 0 SMS is an SMS that is sent directly to the recipients phone and will appear immediately on the screen, without requiring the recipient to go into the Inbox. Also, the SMS is not saved in the inbox, so there is no trace of it on the phone
