Portable Flashnote 3.4 is yet another cool utility with which you can save data during work process without fear of damaging important one.
Whether it's recording a telephone number when the phone book is far away, saving an URL to reuse or just copying pieces of text for editing, there are lots of examples. And just as many solutions: open Notepad, use a personal information manager, or use some other programs for creating and saving text. But all those options are slow. Even a PIM is a "heavy" class program. And before you use it to make rough notes, you must create a new file or find a place to write without creating a "litter" of files or damaging important work.
Flashnote was created for such cases. When you need a rough copy to save or to process some pieces of a text, Flashnote is small, quick and convenient. Press the shortcut-key combination and a rough copy is on the screen in a flash of a second. Press ESC and the program hides. It's that simple. You don't need to find a place for text, to run Notepad or your PIM. Everything gets done quickly, simply and in a more convenient way.
This version works from usb drive or any folder without installation. If you always want to have your notes at your fingertips, just download and use this portable version.
Instructions:
- Download portable utility.
- Extract to any folder where you want to store it.
- Use RUN_Flashnote_Portable.bat in order to launch portable notes manager.
- Or create a windows shortcut for flashnote.exe and add "--portable" (without quotes) in command line.

The Pebbles project is exploring how handheld devices more>> The Pebbles project is exploring how handheld devices, such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) including devices running PalmOS or Pocket PCs, and mobile phones, can be used when they are communicating with a "regular" personal computer (PC), with other handhelds, and with computerized appliances such as telephones, radios, microwave ovens, automobiles, and factory equipment.
With todays wireless technologies, such as BlueTooth and Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11), connecting handheld computers and conventional computers together are becoming no longer an occasional event for synchronization. Instead, the devices are frequently in close, interactive communication. Many environments, such as offices, meeting rooms and classrooms, already contain computers, and the smart homes of the future will have ubiquitous embedded computation. Household and office appliances will soon have wireless communication abilities. When the user enters one of these environments carrying a handheld or wearable computer, how will that computer interact with the environment?
The Pebbles project is exploring the many ways that small handheld Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) such as PalmOS devices or Pocket PC / Windows CE devices can serve as a useful adjunct to the "fixed" computers in those situations.
Supporting Groups
One set of applications supports meetings where the participants are co-located. All participants PDAs are in continuous two-way communication with each other, and with the main computer which is often projected on a screen to serve as the focal point of the discussion. For classrooms, we are investigating how the students hand-helds can enhance testing and notetaking when they are connected to the instructors PC.
