You can use the application as a quick and easy storage location for any piece of information. You can create text notes and organise them into folders. You can search for the note to find the information you need fast. You can keep your sensitive information as notes as well. Just set up a password in the application and the application will encrypt all your data and will ask for the password when you or someone else try to access it. You can export and back up your notes. Just export your notes to a text file that you can transfer to PC. Even more, format of this file is very simple and you can edit file on PC in any text editor or Excel. Also you can transfer the file back to the device and import it to the application.

Managing data:

To create new note or folder use "New note" or "New folder" command. To create a note inside a folder open this folder and use "New note" command. You can also move notes from folder to a folder. You cant create nested folders.

Arranging notes:
You can move existing notes up and down in the list using corresponding commands from menu or just drag-and-drop them to any position you want.
You can move an existing note to any folder using Move to folder command

Search:

You can find the needed note using "Find" command. Just specify a part of the text you want to find and the application will look for the note for you. Search function will analyse all notes in all folders and will search for the specified text. All search results are displayed in separate view, so you can view, edit or delete the found notes easily.

Export/Import:

If you want to back up your data use Export command. The application exports your data in comma separated text file. Please note that this file is not encrypted and you can open it in readable form in Notepad, Excel or any other text editor application on your desktop PC.

You can import your data to the application using "Import" command. Please note: when you import data it just adds notes listed in the importing file to the existing database. If you already have the same note in the database you will get its duplicate.

You can export/import your data in Unicode(16 bits) or in ASCII(8 bit) formats. If you use only latin characters in your notes you can use 8 bit encoding. But if you use, say, cyrillic, Chinese, etc characters you have to use 16 bit encoding (this option is set on default). You can change export settings using "Settings" command in "Export/Import" menu.

Security:

You can password protect and encrypt your data stored in application. To enable security use Set Password command. After you specify a password all your data will be encrypted. Every time you start application it will ask you for the password. When you work with the application all data encryption/decryption is performed on the fly and absolutely transparent to you.

If you want to disable password protection use Change password command and specify an empty password.

To keep your data secure we use BlowFish encryption and MD5 message digest algorithms.

Please note: your password is not stored anywhere inside the application or on the device in order to increase safety. Password verification is performed by checking digital signs (digital signs say nothing about your password nature). It means that no person (including the application developers) can open and see your data without specifying correct password. Please dont forget your password as theres no way to access your data without it!

Security options:

You can set up automatic application lock (password screen appears when the application is locked). To do so you can use Security options command and specify inactivity time period. E.g. specifying 15 seconds here means if during 15 seconds you dont work with your device (dont touch any key, etc) application will ask the password again before you can continue to work with the application.

User Interaction
SecureNotesTree application includes a number of additional features which facilitate and speed up user s work. Pressing a tree item opens it. This is the most frequently used operation.
Popup Menu
Users are provided with an advanced control over items including deleting, renaming, creating a subitem in it. These operations can be implemented using Popup menu only for one item. When pressing and holding a stylus on the item for a while, a user-friendly Popup Menu is displayed. The Popup Menu minimum timeout can be set in Preferences.
Drag&Drop

SecureNotesTree provides capability of both graphical and text data input. User can set an icon for each item and this icon will be displayed in the tree near the specified item. Security
SecureNotesTree provides reliable security for your data if required. Security is provided by AES (Rijndael cipher). 192-bit key is used for encryption and thus makes any cracking impossible. User can enable the secure mode by selecting password protection in Preferences. After that a password should be entered for accessing SecureNotesTree data. Registered version excludes the possibility of encrypted data extraction (for a reasonable time period) in case the password is forgotten. Data encryption mode can be disabled via uncheck password option in Preferences. In this case the password hash is memorized and you will be able to use your old password when enabling this mode next time. Registered version does not store a cleartext version of the password. For exceptionally important data which disclosure is extremely undesirable in case of a device loss, a special mode is provided for data wiping if an invalid password is entered. You can either set data wiping option after 2, 3 or 5 attempts of invalid password entering or disable this functionality. This mode is disabled by default.
Alarms
SecureNotesTree enables users to set alarms for any items. After alarm sound is over a user can either get to the item for more detailed information or ignore it. The alarm notification content is not protected even if the database encryption option is enabled.

Limitations:

· Maximum number of database items is equal to 15
· No database backup to the desktop during HotSync
· A valid password is displayed on the password verification form (in the trial version only)
· Trial version period is 10 days.
