Speech and Debate Timekeeper 2.3 provides you with a various source, multi-platform timer for speech and debate competitions.
It has speech order and time limits preset for Policy, Lincoln-Douglas, Parliamentary, Public Forum, World Schools, Karl Popper, and miscellaneous debate formats as well as individual events.
This timer gives visual and/or vocal time signals at user defined intervals so that you will never have to give manual time signals or frequently look at the time. At the end of each speech, cross-examination, or preparation, the timer automatically sets itself to time the next thing that needs timing at the push of a button. No stopwatch or general purpose timer comes this close to fulfilling the role of a dedicated timekeeper in a round.
Major Features:
- Simple stopwatch style interface simultaneously shows time elapsed and remaining. Buttons are large so that they can be finger pressed on touch screen PDAs.
- Visual time signals on a color coded background indicating minutes or seconds remaining using a traffic light coloring scheme.
- Spoken time signals or tones, including protected minute alerts for points of information in constructive speeches of Parliamentary debates.
- Tracks speech order and prep times. Default time limits are set according to the selected event and are adjustable.
- The name of the speech or task being timed is displayed in the title of the window.
- Navigational buttons set the timer to time the previous or next task.
- Always-on-top window is useful for keeping time while working in another program (e.g., flowing or note taking).
- High contrast display setting with black text on a white background.
- Context sensitive help screens are available from drop down menus.

EmegencySupplyKit was written using HanDBase version 3. It provides a simple method to record what is in an emergency supply kit. The "linked", "relationship," and "database popup" (DB popup) field types are used throughout the application. There are three databases. Its design allows the user to track several different kits. The contents of the kit may vary to an extent upon locality. However, rain is rain regardless of where you live, so keeping warm is always a necessity. The entries I have included in the EmerSupplyList database are not all inclusive of what should be in a kit. Be creative and be prepared. I am from an area that was prone to hurricanes passing by and we were always prepared for the "big one," which we fortuantely missed when Hurricane Andrew struck south Florida back in the 90s. Guys, dont forget the programable universal surfing device.
EmergencySupplyKit is the primary database. It provides a place to record the owners name, kit description, and notes. The "relationship" field type is used to "view owner items" and "# items in bag." The "linked" field type is used to link to the item list so that database may be edited. Tapping on "View OWNER Items" is the first step toward adding the inventory to the database. The EmerKitItems database is where the work is really done. It captures the item description using the "database popup" field type and links to the item list using the "linked" field type. Item description, purchaes date, expiration, number stocked, supplier information, and similar information is maintained here. The EmerSupplyList database is used to maintain a single item list of supplies to be tracked by the EmerKitItems database. Entires may be included that are not actually part of the kit. Specifically, reminders such as cleaning the tub or the washing machine to have a clean place to store water. Toys and/or books for the kids. Toys and food for your pets if they come with you. Within the EmergencySupplyKit database, the "filter" option may be used to provide a list of items needing to be replinished, a list of items needed, and related information. Setting up the internal linking (pathing) for the "linked," "relationship," and "database popup" fields may be necessary in order for the databases to interact.
