Hey, after short and long breaks, Ive managed to come up with a working version of Caleidoscope for Windows Mobile. It works fine on VGA, QGVA devices, and on Smartphone too. Ive cleaned the graphics class, now it does not support scaling, but who cares. It was somewhat buggy and imo too complicated.

Heres a screenshot. It displays a couple dozen of small rectangles, each different colored. Ive simplified the mirroring; it only mirrors the upper-left quarter to the upper-right, then the upper half to bottom.

Also, Ive purged all image, input, etc support, so it does not use any datafiles. Simple as can be.

I just finish writing a little utility to help users maintain, build, & modify the MobileConfig configuration files. The output of the MobileConfig Builder (MCB) is designed for MobileConfig v1.1 ONLY, so the xml files will NOT work with the current public release of MobileConfig. I should have a beta of v1.1 posted on my site within the next couple of days, until then feel free to use MCB to build/modify a configuration file.

Warning: MCB is not a user-friendly application and a decent amount of knowledge about the Windows Mobile registry is required to use this application. Entering in incorrect information or wrong values can damage your (or others) Windows Mobile device.

Note: The xml output will default to the MCB installation path in a file called mobileconfig.xml. This is the default file that the mobile application will read.

Note: MCB is designed to allow end-users to add most types of registry entries to the MobileConfig configuration file. There are some more advanced options that the desktop application does not current support and may require the end-user to directly modify the XML file, if you do so MCB may not be able to edit the file.

Note: The registry settings that MCB and MobileConfig ship with have been designed for and test with the Samsung Blackjack. These values may not work on all Windows Mobile devices and may not work on all versions of the Blackjack. Some settings may not apply to some devices, others are located in different sub keys. Im working on adding device id and software version information to each key so that users can define device specific values. If you want to help me out with this effort please email me.

A few notes...on the Question screen, Default Value is the default selected value if the question is a multi-value combobox selection and not a text input. Default Value on the Value screen is if the application cannot find or is not configured to read a registry value it will appear in any input field by default. This is useful if you dont expect the registry value to be present when the application is first run.

Memoriser is a utility to help you remember phone numbers, account numbers, passwords, birthdays and anything that is important for you to remember but you havent actually taken the time or effort to do so. Define a question with an answer and let Memoriser quiz you until you remember this questions answer without even thinking but just knowing the answer! Memoriser uses a scoring system to make sure that you focus more on questions answered incorrectly. Answering a question correctly increments the score. Correct answers will be asked less frequently than wrong answers. Lets say you define a question Work of category Telephone Numbers and with the answer 0123456789. If you get this question wrong Memoriser will quiz you until you have successfully remembered it. Then it will start with the next question with the lowest score. After you have successfully answered all your other questions, Memoriser will quiz your memory for the Work question again. Oops, you forgot the answer because it was quite a while since this question was asked and score wrong. But amazingly youll notice that this time you will remember the answer much quicker than the first time! Memoriser will help you to remember anything with continuous repetition. I wrote this software for myself because I have all these important account numbers and telephone numbers of friends and am embarrassed that I cant remember them, or have really taken the time to even try to memorize them. Memoriser starts with my PC on startup and I define the time between each question. While my day progresses I am quizzed on my predefined questions at the scheduled times. At first it is very frustrating because I keep on forgetting the answers but I quickly learned to focus and concentrate a bit harder to remember. In the end the repetition pays off. What was quite amazing was that after a couple of days I could remember quite difficult questions! This software is easy, powerful, fun and extremely practical!
