The complexity of Chess. The simplicity of Noughts and Crosses. And as fast as lightning! more>>
Quad is the classic strategy game that you may not have heard of. Designed by G. Keith Still in 1979, his goal then was to develop a quick to play but complex game with fewer rules than Go. Ewan Spences goal now is to bring you this unusual yet highly compelling strategy game to your palmtop.
The aim of Quad is simple. You have to make the four corners of a perfect square (a quad) with your attacking marbles, while at the same time stopping your opponent doing the same. To aid you, you also have six blocking stars. These stop your opponent finishing a quad, but they also block you!
I wrote Quad for two reasons. The first was to see if i could do an A.I. opponent that played a challenging game against both a noivice and an experienced player. I think I succeeded there. I also like the complexity of the game - and if you stick with Quad and experiment with strategies, I hope you will enjoy it too. Maybe if I work out an SMS based version I can challenge you to a game in the future!

Go , also known as Weiqi , is an ancient board game originated in China more than 4,000 years ago. Today Go is played by millions of people around the globe.
Beyond being merely a game, Go is an analogy with life, an intense meditation, a mirror of ones personality, and a beautiful art form. Like the Eastern martial arts, Go can teach concentration, balance, and discipline.
Pocket GNU Go was initiallly created by Ivan Davtchev from Harvard University based on GNU Go 1.2, developed by Man Li and others. Later Alex Seewald from the Austrian AI Research Institute upgraded it to a more advanced AI, using GNU Go 2.6. Ivan Davtchev added multithread capabilities and upgraded it to GNU Go 2.6.2. To further separate the backend GNU Go engine and front end user interface development, Sidney Liu from Vieka joined Pocket GNU Go project and also looked over the maintainence, support and promotion responsibilities.
The plan for front end is to include SGF viewer, editor, and recorder functionalities, or maybe a better graphics. And the objective for backend is to port GNU Go 3.2 engine to Pocket PC, enable GTP protocol communication in Pocket PC, and if possible, separate out the pattern database so the whole GNU Go engine is less resource hungry, more flexible and extensible. Adding multiplayer capabilities is also relatively easier.

Enhancements:

Reversi or Othello is a well known boardgame. Its easy to play, but a challenge to win - and really this version is a challenge.
The board consists of 8x8 fields, the two players alternately put white and black stones onto the board. Your goal is to have the most stones at the end of the game. To do so, directly enclose your white opponent horizontally, vertically or diagonally. All surrounded stones become yours - change to your black color. If you cannot surround stones, you have to pass. The game ends if the board is full or you and the computer have to pass.
The program individually fits boardsize to your Phone/Palm/PocketPCs screensize, works in color, grayscale or black/white, playable on each Java Phone/Palm/PocketPC with at least 200 KByte Heapmemory (64KByte linear accessible, older Siemens phones not). You can use 2,4,6,8 or joystick to move the cursor, press 5 or fire to place your black stone.

Owatamla made long ago a prophecy that the tribe of the Apache would suffer misery and some of the brothers and sisters would lose their lives. The gloomy ancient prophecy of the medicine-man has been fulfilled and the hatchet against the palefaces has been dug up! You, brave Apache warrior, have been trusted with the task to get help to defeat the palefaces and its alleys. Find your way through the hot and now dangerous prairie and use your fists, feet and rifle to defend yourself against the villains who lie in wait for you. Collect the hearts and gold nuggets youll find on your way and send as much of the villains as possible to the happy hunting grounds but be aware of not being ambushed!
Instructions / Controls:
Apache Warrior puts you in the shoes of chieftain Papewas. You have to defend yourself against hordes of foul villains with your feet, fists and rifle. The left bar indicates your current health status which can be increased by collecting hearts, the right bar the health points of your current opponent. After having collected 10 gold ingots the number of your lifes increases by one. If you beat an armed enemy you can take his rifle and the ammo to keep other opponents at a distance.
After all the nasty bastards of one level section have gone to the happy hunting grounds youll get right to the next section. Go through the doors which youll find on your way to get to secret places with loads of useful goodies. Certainly worth a detour! The more you drag yourself through the dusty and deserted prairie the more difficult and numerous the villains and obstacles get.

<<lessThe board consists of 8x8 fields, the two players alternately put white and black stones onto the board. Your goal is to have the most stones at the end of the game. To do so, directly enclose your white opponent horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
All surrounded stones become yours - change to your black color. If you cannot surround stones, you have to pass. The game ends if the board is full or you and the computer have to pass.
The program individually fits boardsize to your Phones screensize, works in color, grayscale or black/white, playable on each Java Phone with at least 200 KByte Heapmemory (and 64 KByte linear accessible, older Siemens not). You can use 2,4,6,8 or joystick to move the cursor, press 5 or fire to place your black stone.
