Project Estimators is an application that helps you estimate how different projects will work out.
OPERATION:
Bricks / Roof tiles. Find how many bricks are needed for your project, whether it be a flat patio type or vertical wall such as a retaining wall.
Input your project area, length and width (or height) in feet, then input the size of the bricks, length and width in inches (height if it is a vertical wall).
For Roof Tiles do the same, except price may be by the square so divide avg number of tiles in a square by the price of the square. Then divide the answer "Nbr Bricks" by the avg number of tiles in a square to find how many squares you need.
Carpet. Input the length and width of a room, then input the nbr of rooms for this dimension.
Check box if price is per Sqft.
Input largest dimension to Width, unless over 12ft then input to Length
Concrete. Also calcs rock, soil, sand, bark, and humus - for height, just put in the depth of desired coverage. Depth is normally 4", for rock height is determined by size of rock coverage - 11/2" rock needs a 3" depth; 3/4" to 3/8" needs a 2" depth.
Price is usually the cost per cuyd. If you input inches in the height box you can click the small red button to convert to feet.
Fractions. Input to any box.
Insulation / Shingles. Input the length and width of your project area and area of coverage stated on the bag of insulation or box of shingles.
Lumber. Find how many boards you need in a project, for example when building a patio or putting up a fence. It allows you to compare the best overall cost utilizing two different lengths of lumber.
Paint. For INTERIOR painting input the length and width of the rooms, check if it has a ceiling, height of the walls (usually 8), and number of walls (usually 4).
For EXTERIOR painting check the Exterior box and input length and height of the walls, check if there is a gable, input height of gable. Again since you are limited to 3 walls you can adjust the number of walls if two or more are roughly the same size. The number of gables calculated will be the same as the number of walls.
Note for Paint:
Dimensions for everything is in feet, paint coverage is in sqft, is usually 300 to 400 sqft per can depending on method of painting and thickness of your application, this program uses an average of 350.
Plywood. Find how many sheets of plywood or sheetrock you need for a project. Input the walls dimensions and the sheet (default is 8 x 4).
Sod. Sold by the sqyd, just input the length and width of the project area and price per sqyd.
Tile. Find the tiles needed for a project, whether the tile is sold by the tile, box, or sqft. The bullnose "length of side" is the length of the project that bullnose tiles will be used on, and the length of the bullnose tile which usually longer than the rest of the tile.
