Share your handhelds calendar with your spouse, your secretary, your colleagues or your friends over the air for a one-time charge. The other party doesnt have to have the same kind of handheld, or even a handheld at all (all that is necessary is a Google Calendar). You can also view other peoples handheld or Google calendars on your handheld, and show or hide them at will. You can also import events for your city, e.g. the home schedule of a sports team or the schedule of the Symphony, and show or hide them at will.
CalendarShare performs three tasks:
- It allows you to synchronize your handhelds calendar with a (free and easy to get) Google Calendar over the air. This is a full two-way sync. You do not need a desktop to do this, but you can independently sync with Outlook on your desktop in the usual way.
- It allows you to read 4 more Google calendars into your handheld, including the calendar of your partner. These are one-way syncs. This is also done over the air. You can show or hide these events at will.
- It allows you to search for events in your city, e.g. music concerts or performances of the Symphony. These are one-way syncs. This is also done over the air. This is courtesy of Upcoming.org, a Yahoo! company.
There are three ways to share your calendar with your partner:
- The recommended way is for each of you to sync to your own Google Calendar, and read in the others calendar separately. This permits you to show or hide your partners calendar, but not edit it.
- Another sharing mode involves both of you syncing to the same Google calendar, which permits each of you to edit each others calendars, but not to hide those events on your handheld.
- The final mode involves one of you syncing with a Google Calendar, and the other going directly to the Google Calendar on the Web.
